Outdoor Generations Photoshoot

CELEBRATING A NEWBORN BABY WITH A GENERATIONS PHOTOSHOOT

When Chiara first contacted me I was so excited about her request and knew it would be an epic shoot. She wanted to do an outdoor baby session for her little daughter Skyia with the focus to be on all the strong women in her life. This would include mum, both grandmothers and all four great-grandmothers, who remarkably are all still very much alive. She told me her family were Italian and family were extremely important and I couldn’t wait to meet them all.

In her pre-shoot questionnaire Chiara wrote that she wanted “Skyia to be able to look at how much she was adored by all her grandparents’. This told me portraits with each individual with Skyia would be important. However, I also wanted to tell the story of this circle of women from multiple generations coming together around this little girl.

Unfortunately, on the day of the session we learnt that because of covid restrictions one of Skyia’s great-grandmothers would not be able to leave her nursing home to join us. As disappointing as this was Skyia’s godmother joined us adding another dimension to this amazing family session.

As one of Skyia’s great-grandmothers is in a wheelchair the entire shoot happened literally within 10 metres of the carpark at Nobelius Heritage Park in Emerald.
